July 20-22

Kesho Wazo is hosting our second annual Wazo Fest. Last year was a major success with over 1,500 attendees with three full days of programming. Festival attendees and performers included dozens of Portland-based musicians, activists, city council members, spiritual leaders, businesses, artists and creatives.

Wazo Fest ’18 will be held Friday July 20th through Sunday July 22nd. We will be creating a mural piece in Kennedy Park with local artist as part of this year’s community blessing. We will host a kickball game and skateboarding competition at Douglas Field as well as two nights of performances spanning multiple music genres and performance styles at the brand new Sun Tiki and Space Gallery.

Our mission at Wazo Fest is to create positive energy, educate our community on social justice issues, promote equality amongst all Mainers and provide young artists with the opportunity to share their talents and develop their confidence to be tomorrow’s leaders. Growing the youth culture in Portland is of extreme importance to us because it keeps young leaders, who will bring necessary change to Portland, in the city and it provides a space for disadvantaged youth to be themselves.
